    Question Backup Academy Certification

I recently got this certification. Has anyone else have this certification and what is your opinion of it being a free online certification?

For those that don't know what it is here is a quick overview:

Backup Academy is an online training and certification resource created and powered by Veeam. Veeam is a virtualization backup software company. Backup Academy has an online certification test that you can take it is much like other certifications requiring 70% or higher score to pass.

Backup Academy has 8 training videos by IT industry experts. These videos cover the basics of backup, backup of virtualized environments, VSS, Windows Server Backup, VMware backup tools, best practices for backing up VMware and Hyper-V environments, and more.

Is the the program developed and sponsored by Veeam?

This to me looks like any product specific training that most vendors provide?

Im not sure how a completely independent qualification would work with the numerous technologies and software available?

It seems like it's product neutral training on VMware backups, but you're right. It's a nice little marketing ploy by Veeam to get the names and e-mail addresses of backup and system administrators!

I can imagine Veeam is dropped into the questions/training quite a lot to!

@Bucahtech Did you find the training to be useful?

Thanks for the responses. Yes it is sponsored by Veeam. I have actually had no contact from Veeam since taking it. It actually covers VMWare, Hyper-V and allot of general backup stuff such as VSS. It has a heavy focus on virtual backups vs standard backup stuff. I don't remember it covering veeam at all. I found it useful as a overview type cert for backups.

I have not tried this though but from the feedbacks that I see, I feel in any case it would be good for people not very old to backups especially backups of virtualized environments. Even if Veeam stays in touch with them, there should be technical stuff coming in for the participants forever.
