    WAN Optimization

I'd be interested to hear how many people have considered using WAN optimization technology as a way of reducing loads on WAN links when backing up remote offices - or doing remote replication. If not, why?

We have used Riverbed On large client opportunities, with multiple sites and multiple systems (linux, windows, iseries), where the client also contracted for RAW Private Cloud storage.

For smaller clients, WAN optimization has not been necessary since most products for Backup/Recovery or High Availability, will have compression and some form of de-duplication. The extra gain of a WAN accelerator is not usually worth the extra cost.
