Salesforce: Concept of Private Cloud is Fundamentally Flawed
CIO.com recently reported that, “Saleforce.com's chief scientist has slammed the concept of private cloud, claiming that the whole point of cloud computing is that resources, costs and risk are shared between multiple parties.”
Do you agree? Do you have a private cloud deployment? Would you consider a hybrid and if so, what data would you be willing to put in a public cloud?

I think the vision that the person espouses is futuristic. There are a number of companies out there that are still wary of the cloud. In fact, a number of customers that I have worked with are reluctant to have data reside outside their walls. The private cloud offers such customers a safe and convenient way to try out the cloud and experience the benefits of embracing the cloud. Particularly in the case of customers in the areas of financial services, healthcare and government, where regulatory requirements are high, I simply do not see companies skipping the private cloud model.
Well, everyone understands that the cloud model provides the greatest benefits when more resources are pooled. However, in the near future, I still think that the private and hybrid cloud models will remain relevant. Just my two cents.
