Steve Duplessie posted an interesting article about a week and a half ago, link given below, about his take on Carbonite attempting to go public. The main point of his article is that most, if not all, consumer grade backup offerings really do not make any money. To make money, MSPs and software manufacturers need to target mid-market businesses and larger opportunities that have the need and can pay for features like security and disaster recovery.
I tend to agree with Steve's assessment and thought this would be a good discussion starter.
